Protect & Serve the Lord
Introduction

Both these deities served Lord Swaminarayan when He came onto this earth and appeared as a baby. They appear in several episodes of Lord Swaminarayan's life history, during which they have served the Lord well. On many occasions, they used their strength and devotion to protect the Lord. For this reason, the images of Hanuman and Ganesh can be seen at the entrances of many Temples . They welcome all visitors to the Temple and guide them all to the supreme Lord Swaminarayan.

Lord Ganesh & Lord Hanuman are protecting the Lord Swaminarayan.

Their position at the front of the Temple , facing inwards, symbolises the fact that they are servants of God; they are ever-alert and ready to serve and protect the Lord.
Lord Swaminarayan has stated in the Shikshapatri Slok 127, “My devotees must ceremonially worship Ganpati of the 4th day of the bright half of the Bhadarva month. On the 4th day of the dark half of the Aso month, they must worship Hanumanji.” According to these commands, poojan is performed to these two deities wherever they reside in our temples around the world.
